AIER’s Strategic Role Amid Technology and Trade Uncertainty

With rising geopolitical and trade shifts, we at AIER see our role as more important than ever. We’re working to ensure that research and technology exchange can continue securely and sustainably.

By advocating for safe Intangible Technology Transfer (ITT), dual-use considerations, and safeguarding knowledge exports against misuse , we’re helping researchers and institutions across Malaysia and the region stay connected and collaborative, despite the growing friction in global supply chains.

At the same time, we’re focused on building regional bridges. Through joint workshops, shared standards, and collaborative frameworks, we support open dialogue and trust between academia, industry, and government. These neutral platforms help foster the kind of long-term relationships that endure beyond shifting trade alliances.

We also recognise the need to navigate complexity with care. That’s why we provide tools for scenario modelling, impact assessments, and ethical governance. Our aim is to help institutions make informed decisions that balance opportunity with risk. In doing so, we hope to contribute to the region’s growing role as a resilient, forward-looking economic hub.

Let’s advance together, with knowledge, foresight, and collective responsibility.
